Friends Of Echo

These are the websites of people I'm friends with! They're all really cool and you should check out their stuff!

Other Cool Folks

I know these folks on a scale from "never spoken" to "said hi at a convention once", but I still want to share their websites here because you should check out their work! I've followed all of them for a long time on other sites and they're all really cool and great at what they do.

Music

You should buy music, because streaming sucks for everybody! Start with these folks:

Browser Demoscene

Here are a couple of really cool websites that push the limits of what you can do in a browser, while also being great pieces of art:

YouTube Channels

Here are some small-to-medium sized YouTube channels that I really like and I think more people should know about!

Small Channels

  • Vimlark, who has lots of game jam devlogs that are really fun to have on in the background while working on projects
  • Sage the Bad Naturalist, who has lots of interesting things to say about stuff like wet rocks, mycology, seasons, and beavers
  • Big Yellow, who makes videos about topics like competitive Pokémon, the unplayable boss characters in fighting games, and the history of specific Lego pieces and colors
  • Punchy, who is mainly a streamer, but also makes the occasional deep dive into old Japanese media, horror game speedruns and challenge runs, or really strange RPGs
  • Travis McEnery, an amateur arachnologist who has a talent for showing spiders as something to be curious about and respectful of, rather than afraid of
  • Jimmy McGee, who has lots of interesting things to say about the businesses around video games and the ways they try to maximize their profits
  • Shonalika, a non-binary video essayist and synthpop musician who talks about gender, disability, race, and media

Bigger Channels

  • 8-Bit Music Theory, who breaks down and analyzes video game music in a bite-sized format that illustrates single musical ideas really effectively
  • Cathode Ray Dude, who makes incredibly thorough deep dives into old technology
  • Farya Faraji, who talks about musical traditions from all over the world
